We were given the challenge a few years ago by our creative director to think outside of the box when it comes to promoting the station. Think special events, think holidays, think different. We were close to Easter so I scoured the internet and found a guy named The Eggman who makes characters out of egg shells. We were too close to Easter to get any done that year, but I held on to the idea and the following year, gave him a call mid-February which timed out perfectly because he also works as a Mardi Gras Float artist and was just finishing up that season. After asking him to create our morning anchor team into the eggs, he went one step further and created the entire Victory set complete with egg-shelled cameras. He normally ships these masterpieces with eggs glued in, but I decided to leave them off so I could try and manipulate them and create a little video. Not as easy as it looks. The whole thing came off a little cartoony, but cute and effective. We’ve used the 30-second spot 2 years in a row on Easter day and have gotten great reaction from it.

In addition to this set, I created a set for the 4pm team and the 10p team. We also sent Mike Castellucci to New Orleans to capture a special Iphone report on John LaMouranne, the artist behind the eggs.

The eggs were featured on Daybreak and the 4pm newscasts.
